Bryn Parry CBE

Everyone at Help for Heroes is deeply saddened by the news that our co-founder Bryn Parry CBE has passed away at the age of 66 after a short illness with pancreatic cancer.

Bryn, his wife Emma Parry OBE, and a small group of close friends, set up the Charity up in October 2007 after identifying an urgent need for better care and support for wounded troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Bryn’s energy, dedication and passion soon propelled Help for Heroes into the national spotlight. The Charity became a household name overnight. As a result, hundreds of millions of pounds have been raised since. And the lives of tens of thousands wounded, sick and injured service personnel, veterans and their families have been transformed.

I met the Parrys at the Rifle Depot Winchester shortly before Bryn left the Army. I realised then what a lovely guy he was and it was not a surprise to me that the project he initiated became such an important and valuable charity. I have an original cartoon featuring myself which I treasure as it reminds me that Bryn was such a special man and how proud I am to have met him even for a short time.
